Adam has performed hundreds of environmental due diligence investigations at industrial, commercial, agricultural, communications, and brownfields facilities. Adam has managed projects ranging from domestic single site acquisitions to portfolios of up to 140 unique properties and has actual project experience in 48 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, China, South America, and Australia.

Adam has nearly 15 years of experience in performing environmental investigations of varying complexities. He methodically applies a business approach to assist private equity firms, investors, debt and equity sponsors, traditional lenders, counsel, property management companies, real estate investment trusts, and owners/operators manage their regulatory and financial obligations associated with complex environmental issues.
Professional Highlights
- Managed an M&A project that included over 30 manufacturing plants located throughout the world on 5 separate continents. The deal was ultimately successful, despite the known material environmental problems associated with the target portfolio. He was able to get his customer (buyer) comfortable with the liabilities associated with the environmental issues inherent with the portfolio of plants.
- Adam has managed hundreds of Mergers & Acquisitions projects for a wide array of customer types, all having their own unique business goals for their respective deals. The total value of deals that he has managed is well over $3 billion. His deals have included acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, ground leases, business leases, 100 year leases and more.
- He has performed Phase II soil, sediment, surface water, and ground water investigations of organic and inorganic chemical releases at industrial, agricultural, and commercial facilities throughout the United States.
- Adam has conducted multiple building investigations for airborne contaminant identification, including mold, asbestos, lead, and other building contaminants.
- Adam opened a satellite office for the Payne Firm, Inc. in downtown Chicago, IL. With the backlog of new customers and projects generated, he grew the office to 4 professional staff members in 1 year.
- Adam was a chemist and investigative technician at the abandoned former Durako Paint Plant, a USEPA Superfund site in Detroit, MI.
- Adam Conducted a field study of water resources and the impact of invasive species introduction and prescribed burning of southern Florida.
- Adam has completed many environmental assessments of, and for, Fortune 500 companies where their real property was involved.
- Adam has personally bought, built, managed, and sold several restaurants while working as an environmental consultant over the years.
- Assisted the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission in a study to determine the adverse affects of Greater Cincinnati’s combined sewer overflow discharges on the Ohio River water quality. The investigation included a study of organic, inorganic, and biological contaminants associated with rain events of varying complexity throughout a one year (1996) period.
- For environmental compliance, he has performed site investigations and developed Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, Notice of Intents, and training programs for facilities involved in industrial activities. He has performed site investigations and developed Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plans and has audited sites for Material Environmental Compliance.
