Lead
Lead is a highly toxic metal that may cause a range of health problems, especially in young children. When lead is absorbed into the body, it can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs like the kidneys, nerves and blood. Lead may also cause behavioral problems, learning disabilities, seizures and in extreme cases, death. Lead-based paint was commonly used on interior and exterior surfaces prior to the United States ban in 1978.

Radon
m.a.c. Paran is capable of providing radon measurement services for single and multi-family residential dwellings, commercial buildings, and schools. Radon testing is now required in all Ohio primary an secondary schools under new school safety and inspection rules, also known as "Jarods Law", effective September 27, 2007. m.a.c. Paran specializes in large scale measurement projects and has conducted testing for numerous Ohio school districts. In an effort to determine the type of radon-resistant construction techniques to use during new building development, we are also capable of conducting baseline screenings of raw land.

Our personnel have met the requirements and are certified by the Radon Proficiency Program for radon measurement services from the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA-NRPP) and are licensed with the Ohio Department of Health. The following section is a listing of representative project descriptions that demonstrate m.a.c. Paran’s capabilities and experience.
Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority
m.a.c. Paran has been contracted by CMHA to provide project management for the asbestos removal project conducted at English Woods and Laurel/ Lincoln Housing Projects. Services included: project management, onsite project surveillance; area air sampling; clearance air sampling and inspections; written documentation; permit required confined space identification; permit required confined space training; and permit required confined space entrance oversight. The projects lasted 12 months in duration.
Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport
m.a.c. Paran conducted asbestos inspections and monitoring in over 400 residential properties as part of the Federal Aviation Administration Noise Abatement Program for the greater Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. A final report was developed to document material type, location, condition, and abatement cost estimates. m.a.c. Paran was also retained to develop both asbestos abatement and building demolition specifications, and perform project management within approximately 200 houses.
University of Cincinnati Medical Center
m.a.c. Paran has worked for U.C. Medical Center for the past ten years to provide asbestos and lead-based paint containing materials management. Of special mention is m.a.c. Paran's management of asbestos abatement prior to demolition of H Pavilion. Technical services for both asbestos and lead have included inspection, project management, abatement design, inspections, area and clearance sampling, and final report submission.
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
m.a.c. Paran Consulting Services, Inc. was contracted to conduct a facility wide asbestos-containing material inspection for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Post-inspection, a report was submitted which included executive summary, sampling strategy, line drawings, sampling data, and certificates and licenses for personnel and equipment. Technical services subsequent to the inspections have included project management, abatement design, inspections, area sampling, clearance sampling, and final report submission.
Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority (Hope VI Project)
m.a.c. Paran Consulting Services, Inc. was contracted by DMHA to provide a Phase I audit , lead inspection, asbestos inspection, specification development and project management within 3 housing complexes as part of the Hope VI revitalization project. The three sites encompassed 213 units.

Kettering City School District
Project design and management of the district-wide renovation and demolition project involving 12 schools. The ongoing project has lasted approximately 2 years in duration, encompassing over 350 separate abatement work areas. m. a.c. Paran also conducts the 3-year re-inspections of the entire school district.
Oakwood City School District
Asbestos project design and management of district-wide renovation project. m.a.c. Paran Consulting Services, Inc. has provide project management for the past 3 years.
Middletown City Schools
3-year asbestos re-inspection and 6 month re-assessments of all Middletown City Schools. Total square footage of 18 district buildings is 1.2 million square feet. Project design and management of asbestos prior to demolition and renovation of several district schools.
